Potty Training Tip

The puppies are only as good at training as their master is at feeding and taking them out.

This works for the most part and makes the training easier, there are many methods, this is just one!

Feed you puppy 3 times a day until the age of 6 months. Put the food infront of him and feed him only what he eats in a 30 min period. The puppies will likely go potty as soon as they eat or within another 30 min.
Watch for this:
Puppies are nosey and sniff around lots!
If they ever start going in a somewhat small circle you can almost be assure they are going to go potty. So if you see them circling get them outside or to a pad, whichever you use.

Some  PLANTS are a dangerous to puppies as they are toxic ,so make sure that you know what types of plants you have around your home and yard.

HYPOGLYCEMIA (low blood sugar):

Hypoglycemia is a common occurance to all small breed puppies.  It is usually a result of stress due to environmental change and/or negligence of proper care by the puppies owner.  Your puppy must get adequate rest to prevent stress induced hypoglycemia.  Play time must be limited to 30 minutes for every four hours of rest.  Activity may be increased with the puppies maturity and growth.  When you arrive home with your puppy put 1/4 to 1/2 inch of Nutra-stat or Nutra-cal on the end of your finger and insert it into your puppies mouth 3 times a day for 2 days, then decrease to 2 times a day for 2 days, and 1 time a day for 2 days.  If puppy is eating well and has adjusted to his/her new environment you may stop giving Nutra-cal.  You will need to provide your puppy with a small area for nap time such as a crate or box to prevent stress from too much activity

Pet Insurance can be a great advantage to your new puppy depending on what level of insurance you choose. Pet Insurance can help pay your vet bills or reimburse you to purchase a replacement puppy if death was due to accident. However, it is your responsibility to sign up for the Pet Insurance.

"DO MALES OR FEMALES MAKE BETTER PETS?"
Tough question!  It depends on a variety of factors.   However, if you will allow a sweeping generality, for many people, a male is more loving and less moody than a female!   Sorry girls, we are not making a gender slam, but we think it is a hormonal thingy!   Females seem at different times to be less tolerant and less affectionate than males.   Females also tend to bond to one person, whereas males more or less will bond to a family.   We are not really sure that neutering is the answer to this issue either.

Our Prices for females are higher than the males, strictly because of demand. Educated dog people know that males make just as good pets as females. They house train the same as females. If you have a male neutered before 6 months of age they never go through puberity. As long as they are not around a female in heat they will not mark there territory. Every pup male or female are individals.

Can I come to your home?

No, I do not allow visits to my home.  I do not allow strangers into my home for the sake of the privacy and safety of myself and my dogs. I know that may sound like an excuse of something to "hide",There are many reasons for this as you can read below.
Puppy diseases are easily spread by even the most casual contact. The best breeders will not allow their puppies to be seen or handled until the puppy has had it's first shots, usually not before 5 weeks old. By this time, the breeder may have deposits on the puppies from other people. Buyers should not be offended if the breeder suggests meeting at another location as good breeders know how puppy diseases are spread.
Some breeder's do not allow others to see or handle puppies that have a deposit on them, as these puppies are now the property of others.  Then there is the breeder's nightmare-thieves! Breeders have had puppies stolen from their home when they went to answer the phone while the "prospective" buyers were looking at the puppies. Others have lost puppies after showing the puppies, only to have the "buyer" return when the owner was not home, to break in a steal all the puppies. Even more disturbing, some have had their home robbed of personal property several days after showing the puppies.

Am I ready for a new puppy?

Are you?  How do you know that you are ready for the responsibility and care of a puppy/dog?

For those of you that already have pets, you probably don't need this, but it won't hurt.  But, if you've never had a puppy or it's been awhile, there may be some questions you need to ask yourself first.

1. Do I realize this is a living, breathing thing?  A puppy will be just like a human baby--it eats, drinks, pees, poops, cries and needs attention.  And you'll need to feed it, water it, clean up after it, soothe it and socialize with it.

2. Am I willing to give my time and my love to this puppy?  Dogs are very social animals and need interaction with their "pack"--that's you.

3. Am I willing for the financial responsibility of a dog?  They need good food, clean water, health care, licensing, exercising, obedience training.  Some of this will cost money--are you ready for that?

4. Have you considered that Squirt will not always be a puppy? You will have all the stages of a dog's life to deal with--the baby, the active adult stage, mid life issues, and geriatric pets.

If you've decided you are ready for a new friend in your life, then  I can help you pick the perfect puppy.

Having a new puppy in the family is wonderful. Quickly, your pup will come to understand the routine you've carefully planned. In a short time, the pup will be ready to explore its world and begin learning obedience commands. As the months fly by, you'll wake up one morning to notice that the adorable pup is now a beautiful, confident and loving adult dog.

The most important information of all, is that I care about all my babies and was there for their birth, when they opened their eyes, and for their first steps. My voice was the first one that they heard. So I also want to be there for you, too!  Feel free to call with a question, share a funny story or just send me a pic! Because I just love hearing about how my babies live and grow.
